Anxiety and Stress Management

Stress occurs anytime you prepare to make changes in response to something, whether it is desired or demanded, voluntary or involuntary, “positive” or “negative”. Stress is a fact of life that you can’t avoid. A certain level of stress is necessary for motivation and enervation. The problem comes when anxiety, or anxiety management, becomes your life. In this way, anxiety becomes debilitating, inhibiting us from living the kind of full, meaningful life that we would choose. In therapy, you can learn more effective ways to manage stress, so that you don’t “burn out” – physically, mentally, and/or emotionally. A major focus of the work I do is on helping clients make more mindful choices in order to develop more balanced, meaningful lives. I also work with clients who struggle with overwhelming anxiety, to help them identify the role anxiety plays in their lives, to examine the ways in which trying to manage their fear has created a very narrow and confined life.
